CYBER-ARTIST STEVE STONE has spent the last few years involved in the rave scene, pouring his considerable imaginative talents into club design and directing multimedia events which culminated in a series of "rituals" in San Francisco attended by some five thousand people last autumn. His digital depiction's of man-machine miscegenation attest to the fusion of fetish fashion
with a club culture obsessed with all things futuristically alien.
"The fetish textures I use have drawn me into something of a new world. I first came across them in sci-fi films that seem to see these fabrics used in the clothing of the future. Then I discovered that there was a real source for all these amazing ideas - the fetish scene."
Technofetishism itself is nothing new; the evolutionary lineage of these mechano-eritic cyborg sirens can be traced through Sorayama's bizarre android girls via the cyber cinema of Bladerunner back to Metropolis. But these machine-headed Nexus warriors look like a more dangerous breed altogether, with any vestiges of humanity all but removed.
